We are offering Cupflux 02 Covering and Drossing Flux. Cupflux range of products are essentially the melting and refining fluxes. When used collectively, as explained below, these products provide a range of functions starting from forming a protective cover for preventing metal oxidation, to reducing the gas pick up, to degassing and deoxidizing the molten copper alloy. The covering fluxes melt at lower temperatures than the metallic charge, and progressively float to the top forming a thick fluid slag that protects the molten metal.

Aluflux 06 is a special purpose flux for aluminum melting in reverberatory and large bath area furnaces. Large surface area furnaces have cold zones wherein the temperature is less, because of which the covering flux takes more time to melt and form a protective layer. Aluflux 06 Aluminum Covering Flux has been developed for such applications. This flux has a lower melting point because of which it forms a liquid layer and covers the entire exposed area. Therefore even if it is charged in a limited area, it melts and gradually spreads over the entire bath. This flux also reaches out to the extreme corners of the furnace and reduces the formation of lumpy dross on the refractory walls.

Grades:

• Aluflux 06 A: Premium quality flux, for melting of Aluflux 06 A Aluminum
• Aluflux 06 B: Aluflux 06 B Low grade flux mainly recommended for melting of commercial Aluminum

 

How to use:

• This flux has to be added at the rate of 1.5 kg per sq.mt of the bath area. Two stage additions are recommended, half the quantity is added during the early stages of melting and the balance after the complete charge has melted. Subsequently during the melting, additional quantity should also be added depending upon the surface area exposed, quantity of metal being melted and quality of charge. After the metal is fully ready, it is advisable to rabble the bath with a suitable quantity of Aluflux 01 A to permit the release of molten metal held within the globules of dross.

Ferflux 04 are a range of special purpose fluxes for reducing the phosphorus content during the melting of various steels. Presence of high phosphorous from the charge materials leads to cold shortness which results in poor mechanical properties. Ferflux 04 when added forms highly basic and fluid slag which is capable of phosphorous removal. The slag also neutralizes other acidic byproducts of the slag metal reaction and minimizes the erosion of the refractory lining.

Grade:

• Ferflux 04 A: Less reactive high addition rate product
• Ferflux 04 B: Highly reactive low addition rate product

 

How to use:

• This flux is mainly an electric furnace additive, but can be used for induction furnace application, as ladle additive. The required quantity of Ferflux 04 is added at the bottom of the ladle and metal is tapped on to it. Since the temperature of the molten metal falls rapidly after the addition of this product, it is advisable to use this product with high metal superheat. The better alternative would be to carry out a ladle treatment, repour into an Induction furnace, superheat and then retap the metal. The normal addition rate varies between 0.5 to 1.0% of the charge weight.
• The correct addition will depend upon the grade of Ferflux 04 selected, the type of the charge and the final phosphorous percentage required.
