Ferflux 02 A is a special purpose additive for dioxides and reducing holes and pin holes in cast irons. Presence of oxygen in the molten metal leads to formation of inter metallic oxides, which increases tendency for inclusions and reduces metal temperature leading to reduction in fluidity and increasing the chance for cold shuts and misruns. The use of Ferflux 02 A dioxides the molten metal, and also scavenges the alloy off all the suspended impurities, which then float to the top of the molten metal and get attached to the slag. The flux also refines the molten metal.

 

How to use:

• The flux is mainly a ladle additive, and has to be added just before tapping the molten metal into the ladle. For large amounts of metal only about one quarter of the total amount of Ferflux 02 A should be added in the ladle, the remainder should being added at intervals during tapping. The normal addition rate of this product varies from 0.1% to 0.2% of the molten metal. The correct addition rate will depend upon the quality of the charge and other metal related variables and can be determined through trial and error method. The completion of full deoxidation can be seen by a noticeable change in fluidity as observed in the fluidity spirit test.
