Diecoat 01 is a range of water based release coatings for pressure die casting applications. This coating is ideally suited for thin walled intricate Aluminum castings. This coating is an emulsion of specialty additives which enable easy release of the casting from the die. The coating cools the die, prevents soldering of Aluminum and enables easy release of the casting. Since the coating is water based, it is environment friendly.

 

Presently the following grades of Diecoat 01 are available in our range:

Diecoat 01 A: For lower dilutions.
Diecoat 01 SPL / DX: For higher dilutions

 

How to use:

• Diecoat 01 A and Diecoat 01 SPL / DX have to be diluted with water and sprayed on the die before every shot in the Pressure Die casting machine. Diecoat 01 A should be diluted with soft water and then sprayed onto the die using the spraying equipment. Diecoat 01 A may be diluted in the ratio of 1:50 to 1:80 while Diecoat 01 SPL / DX may be diluted in the ratio of 1:80 to 1:140. The exact dilution will depend upon the quality of the die, complexity of die, and steady state temperature required. Particular attention is required while spraying on core pins and ejector pins.

Diecoat 05 A is a special purpose conductive coating for use in gravity die casting applications. This coating is mainly a graphite water based coating having high refractoriness with excellent conducting characteristics. Because of non-wetting nature and high temperature lubricity of graphite, molten metal does not stick to the die and the solidified casting gets easily ejected. Diecoat 05 A is specially formulated to satisfy environmental considerations in respect of emitted fumes, low toxicity and minimum fire hazard.

How to use:

• Diecoat 05 A is normally available as a pasty liquid. The coating is suitable for both swabbing and spraying applications. Depending upon the type of application selected the coating has to be diluted with sufficient quantity of water mixed thoroughly and then swab/sprayed. The coating should swabbed/sprayed on a hot die. In case of swabbing applications it is advisable to use a cotton swab instead of a paint brush since the later is more prone to burning out and sticking on a hot die. Care should be taken to ensure that excessive coating is not deposited in pockets and deep corners on the die as this could lead to casting defects. Even though the coating is recommended for ingates, downsprues and risers, it is suitable for the casting cavity as well.
