Refcoat 03 are a range of Graphite water based refractory coatings for sand moulds and cores. These range of coatings can be used in the manufacture of ferrous and non-ferrous castings. When the mould or core is coated with Refcoat 03, it enhances the surface refractoriness, thereby improving the surface finish of the casting.

Presently the following grades of REFCOAT 03 are available in our range:

• Refcoat 03 A - Formulated for thick section iron and non ferrous castings
• Refcoat 03 B - Formulated for dip applications in automotive foundries
• Refcoat 03 C - Powder and is recommended for general purpose applications
• Refcoat 03 D – Ready for use mixed refractory Graphite Zircon pasty liquid paint for heavy sections, wherein refractoriness is very critical

How to Use:

• Refcoat 03 A, Refcoat 03 B are being pasty liquids, must be diluted with suitable quantity of water and mixed thoroughly for brushing, spraying and swabbing applications. Refcoat 03 D is normally a ready for use paint and hence need not be diluted with water. The mould or core has to be coated with this paint, air-dried and subsequently torch dried or oven dried. Refcoat 03 C is a powder which has to be mixed carefully for either brushing / spraying applications. Direct Addition of excess water into the powder, and mixing is not advisable.

Refcoat 10 is a range of Chromite spirit based re-factory coatings for sand moulds and cores. These ranges of coatings are predominantly used in the manufacture of steel castings, where the pouring temperatures are above 1400 deg C.

Presently the following grades of Refcoat 10 are available in our range:

• Refcoat 10 A: Standard grade for use in manufacture of steel castings with up to section thickness of 40 mm
• Refcoat 10 B: Standard grade for use in manufacture of steel castings with up to section thickness of 80 mm. Since Refcoat 10 B contains Chromite, which is highly chilling in nature, therefore it is also used as a Chill coat

How to use:

• All grades of Refcoat 10 are ready for use paints. However, if needed, they may be diluted with foundry solvent as per the prevailing foundry practice. Irrespective of the grade of Refcoat 10 being used, care should be taken to ensure that the contents of the carboy are fully and thoroughly mixed before use. The mold or core has to be coated with this paint, lit off and subsequently torch dried. To obtain best results primary coated torch dried mold must be given a secondary coating, lit off and again torch dried for better insurance against surface defects.
